brett is sick of Good Artists doing bad work

OK, here is the part where I just get mad. (this is me yelling at all the art chameleons)

I keep seeing a lot of art being made that has no imagination behind it. It isn't a lack of skill that I am seeing but a lack of originality. I am not free from guilt when it comes to influence seeping into my work, but I do try to stop, and make sure it is an original idea,technique, or image that I am making.
The reason I even gave a crap to write this is because I see tons of art made by very talented people, but many of them are just regurgitating each others ideas and images. If you are in the art world and you are making work with the same images that everyone else is using, over and over again, please stop. Get a glass of water, read a book, go for a bike ride, or just take a nap. Get away from all the stuff you are looking at that is turning your creative skill into an art stamp. I want to see YOUR original ideas and I want be TOTALLY stoked and intimidated by your amazing amount of talent and pure imagination behind each piece of art. Please don't be an art chameleons.
